I was born curious. Really curious. I’ve always loved connecting, chatting and listening to people from an early age, eager to learn something new. My first job was ‘eggs on legs’, starting at age 12, delivering to our street. I would help my neighbours by bringing something small and fragile and would often bring shopping to them when the snow came. A sense of making someone else’s life a little easier made me feel good and since then, making small differences in people’s lives has been a passion of mine.

Growing up, I never really knew what I wanted to do. However, one thing I did know is that I loved exploring and found success in learning new languages at school. Much to my mother’s horror and my father’s delight at age 15 I jumped on a flight to Amsterdam, visiting a girl I had met on holiday who lived in Belgium. This became the first of many adventures. Leaving school at 17 I tried many jobs from a shop assistant to childcare worker, from a waitress to insurance clerk and sales rep to finally settling on studying Chartered Surveying after meeting a group of surveyors on a skiing holiday. Why? By nature, I am restorative and bringing old buildings back to life appealed to me.

As my career progressed I branched into shopping centre management and found myself connecting to those who owned and worked in the buildings, thus I became more intrigued by the people than the buildings. To this day, people fascinate me and, whilst I love products and property, my passion is people and helping individuals find their passion and purpose. As I weave my own path through life I continue to develop my own skills through the highs and lows I have learned through work and life; witnessing and experiencing good and bad situations, sharing stories with friends and family as I continually learn to be a better person, wife, friend and parent.

After many years as a Chartered Surveyor my desire to help people fulfil their dreams became uncontainable and so I qualified as a consultant specialising in leadership, mentoring and coaching. This has brought many joys as well as challenges, the biggest being learning to know, love and be me. As a result, helping anyone on that journey of vulnerability and self-discovery to fulfil all their potential and be all they want to be brings me great joy.

Often in life, we look for the big wins when, in fact, it is the small wins. It’s the ups and downs of a journey that brings character, resilience and choice as we decide to keep going forward, learning from the past and building on its foundations. Success is not about fame or fortune for me, it’s about doing something that matters. Helping people increase their confidence, skills, motivation and all-round wellbeing that will benefit all aspects of their life, bringing long-term sustainable change, is success to me. There is an old African Proverb that says:

Alone we may go faster but together we can go further

I believe this is at the heartbeat of all I desire to do, and it is in the dynamic created of that shared journey and connection that facilitates success to happen.
