There are so many ways to show kindness; from large acts of kindness random acts of kindness and small acts of kindness. All are beneficial but one of the most powerful and genuine acts of kindness is lending your time and a listening ear.

Kindness and encouragement help people feel stronger and increase self-worth and that sense of connectivity benefits both the receiver and recipient. Resilience starts to build with every healthy deposit in our lives and what can often seem unachievable becomes achievable.

I am a great believer that a cup of coffee and a healthy conversation can fix many things. We get the opportunity to land things that whirl in our minds. We can untangle thoughts and feelings that may not be right or need to be developed to take the next step. We find a safe space to talk and be heard and make changes to set us back on course.

Conversations are healthy and should be encouraged in all settings. In our home, workplace, community, with a stranger or colleague alike. Loneliness is one of the biggest issues of our time and just taking a short time out to smile and talk to somebody can make their day bearable and let you see into their world.

Next time you see somebody who is stressed, lonely, upset or agitated pause and take a few minutes to talk with them. Or, if they are excited and have great news to share, pause and celebrate with them. This might be all you can offer at this point, but you can always connect again, arrange to meet for that cappuccino and carry on where you left off.

Making time for people is one of the simplest yet greatest acts of kindness that will have overall immediate health and emotional benefits and bring opportunity to explore and laugh and build community together. Please share below your stories of kindness and what has impacted you?
